KAB Country
CBSS Artist Of The Month January 2010 Kab Country
KAB Country was started on a whim. Members of The Society for the Preservation of Early Country and Western Music went on a planned trip to Nashville. Since Al Lowden, Bob Davis, Marty Davis, Dot Conklin and Ken Conklin all traveled together in Ken’s motor home they decided to try writing a song.
Al is a retired helicopter pilot from Texas and has been involved in music, both performing and writing most of his life. He was influenced by a co-worker, Kris Kristofferson. Bob is a retired computer technician and has been writing songs for many years. Ken is a retired generator technician and was told that he should try his hand at writing something on his own. He had never written anything before that trip but had so much fun doing it he decided to try writing more songs.
The same group went on another trip the following year, to Al’s old stomping grounds in Texas. A couple more songs were created on the trip, and KAB Country was born. Ken , Al, and Bob have a lot of fun performing together and you never know what’s going to happen when musicians are cooped up in a motor home. You can see some of the results in their first CD produced at Crystal Blue Studios. To produce the CD, “Just Ask Me”, they relied on a good friend Rex Raines to man the steel guitar. Rex plays with several different bands professionally and did a good job on their songs. Contact Bob Davis for CD purchases and booking info at KABCountry1@Gmail.com
