Melissa Brethauer
The debut CD for singer/songwriter Melissa Brethauer will be released this month. The 20-year old was in the studio on September 12th for her final session after having come in on October 10, 2008 for the first. Now, twelve months later, the ‘waiting’ is over, because “Waiting,” an eleven-song CD featuring her original music, is finally premiering. Dominick Pages produced the Disc as well as playing guitar, bass, keyboards, percussion and drums. Melissa recorded her vocals – including her own harmonies – and played guitar and piano. She has been writing songs since she was 12 years old, and picked out seven that were ‘in the can’ to put on “Waiting,” then along the way wrote three new songs, while the final one emerged in the form of an instrumental. The “Interlude” piece showcases Melissa’s skills on the piano, on which she is classically trained. Melissa’s story of commitment to her craft is worth noting in that she is a student at the University of Central Florida, which required her to travel back and forth from Orlando to the studio for the recording of “Waiting.” October was to open with Melissa as one of the featured musicians performing at Brandon Supports the Arts, an event presented in part by Crystal Blue Sound Studios, spotlighting local artists.
